SUNDAY SOLACE: It's A New Day

"What day is it?"
"It's today," squeaked Piglet.
"My favorite day," said Pooh."

SUNDAY SOLACE: What a Difference a Day Makes

"You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness"
Psalm 30:11, HCSB

When my special needs daughter was little, she always got up in the morning and looked out the window to see if the sun was shining.

I thought of her as, "My sunshine girl."

She still is.

She loved the musical, ANNIE.

She still does.

When I was sad, she could always lift me up.

She still can.

She would pat me softly on the shoulder and say, "Don't worry, Mommy. It'll be alright. The sun'll come out tomorrow."

It always did.

May your day be filled with sunshine. And if not today, look outside tomorrow.

Perhaps . . . the sun'll come out.

It still does!
"But for you who revere my name,
the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays."
Malachi 4:2, NIV

SUNDAY SOLACE: Shine!

With Winter Solstice comes the shortest day and longest night. For many experiencing difficulty, the days are dark, and the nights are even darker. Would you be willing to step into someone's darkness today? It is there your light will shine brightest.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:14-16, NIV

Step into someone's darkness.
SHINE!

SUNDAY SOLACE: A Mary Spirit

Mary yielded completely to God's plan.

"And Mary said, 'Behold, I am the servant of the Lord;
let it be to me according to your word.'
And the angel departed from her."
Luke 1:38, ESV

Oh, to have a Mary spirit!

According to God's Word, when we are faithful in the small things, God will entrust us with greater things (Matt. 25:23).

What is God asking you to do? Are you willing?

SUNDAY SOLACE: Do You Believe?

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Mark 10:13, NIV

Santa places presents under the tree.

Children believe.

God placed his presence upon the tree . . .

Come with childlike faith.

Simply . . . BELIEVE!

The true spirit and meaning of Christmas is alive and well deep within the heart of my friend, Santa Cliff. Yes, Virginia! There really is a Santa Claus, and he is praying for you.

In December 2012, fifty years after donning his first Santa suit, Santa Cliff was inducted into the International Santa Claus Hall of Fame in Santa Claus, Indiana. http://ow.ly/ryxYG

Congratulations and Merry Christmas, Santa Cliff!

SUNDAY SOLACE: Crown of Glory

Our crown has  been bought and paid for,
we simply need to put it on.

“What is mankind that you are mindful of them,
a son of man that you care for him?
You made them a little lower than the angels;
you crowned them with glory and honor."
Hebrews 2:6-7, NIV

SUNDAY SOLACE: Hope Floats

O God, thy sea is so big, and my boat is so small.

“For forty days the roaring floods prevailed, covering the ground and lifting the boat high above the earth. As the water rose higher and higher above the ground,
the boat floated safely upon it.” ―Genesis 7:17, Living Bible

Waves crashed against the boat’s hull only inches from where Noah and his wife lay.

“What would it take for this boat to capsize?” Naamah asked.

“This boat is built for high winds and torrential rains,” Noah assured her.

Moments later, “Are you sure we’re not going to perish?”

Her husband’s words always comforted her. It was not what he said so much as the calm manner in which he said it.
But how could he be so sure?
"This hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
a hope both sure and steadfast."
―Hebrews 6:19, NASB

SUNDAY SOLACE: Abba Father

"Children do not find it difficult or complicated to talk to their parents, nor do they feel embarrassed to bring the simplest need to their attention. Neither should we hesitate to bring the simplest requests confidently to the Father." Richard J. Foster

"If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!"
Matthew 7:11, NIV

SUNDAY SOLACE: Amazing Love

How do you define love?

We can talk about what love is all we want, but nothing speaks louder than a living example. Don't miss the following real life love story . . . but grab a tissue (or three) first.

"If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love,
I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. "

―1 Corinthians 13:1, NIV

Don't miss the rest of the story . . .

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."
John 15:13, NIV

SUNDAY SOLACE: Go With The Flow

It was in the letting go that their beauty
flowed from among the masses.
~ Starr Ayers ~

"There's an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on earth . . .
a right time to hold on and another to let go."
Ecclesiastes 3:1,6 MSG

These leaves finally let go of the lofty position they held for so longcarried by the wind and brought to rest in deep waters. Where the waters will take them is a mystery, but one thing is sure, they served their purpose along the way: They brightened up my day.

SUNDAY SOLACE: Soul Seat

"For a lake to reflect the heavens on its surface . . .

. . .  it must be calm."

"In returning and rest you shall be saved;
in quietness and confidence shall be your strength."
Isaiah 30:15, NIV

SUNDAY SOLACE: Come to the Well

"And Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well . . .
when a Samaritan woman came to draw water."
John 4:6-7, NIV

Even Jesus took time to rest. It was  in his place of rest that
ministry came to him.

Why do we feel we must find our place of purpose. Instead, we should simply find our placefind our place before Him; find our place of rest.

Perhaps, when we are at our place, our purpose will present itself.

Just come. Jesus is already there.
